Recycle Motor Oil
Posted by Lyndsey P. Bakos-SchneiderRecycle Motor Oil

Each year over 180 million gallons of motor oil are disposed of illegally. Never put motor oil in the trash or pour it on the ground or into a storm drain. Motor oil can be 100 percent recycled. Many oil change centers and auto part stores will take your oil hassle free. New York State law requires them to take 5 gallons per day, per person free of charge. As for the containers; empty oil containers are not recyclable and should be placed in the regular trash because of the oil residue inside the container. Visit Earth 911 to locate a recycling center near you.
